My name is Matt Field and I was born and raised in Brookings, SD. I look forward to serving the Brookings community where my wife Katie, son Brooks and daughter Blakelynn call home. In my spare time I enjoy spending time with family/friends, cheering on the Jackrabbits and Bobcats. In addition to those things I enjoy participating in all things outdoors (hunting, fishing and golfing). I graduated from South Dakota State University in 1993 with a Bachelor of Science degree in business economics. I became an agent for Farmers Union Insurance in Pierre on February 15, 1998, and successfully maintained the Pierre agency until September 1, 2017, at which time I relocated back to Brookings to continue my insurance career. I am a farmer at heart. Growing up on the family farm in Carthage, SD and working with my dad and grandpa are some of the greatest memories I have. I still get a chance to get dirty once in a while when I go home to help my dad even today.
I was with Wells Fargo for five years working with farm families every day on their finances and crop insurance. In 2005 I was given an opportunity to go into the insurance business with my uncle Leroy Person and his son Troy Person in their family-owned agency. It was such a great opportunity as I had the opportunity to learn from Leroy who had more than 17 years in the business and was also a retired teacher.
I’m married to Jessica and we have two children. Helping my customers and giving them the service they deserve are what I like most about being an agent.

Grant Sjaarda was born and raised in Plymouth, Minnesota, and has lived in South Dakota since 2008. After graduating from the University of South Dakota in 2013, he went on to spend 8 years in the auto industry as a Sales and Leasing Consultant in Sioux Falls.

I started with Farmers Union Insurance in Jan of 2019. I was a Financial Resource Specialist for all the agents in South Dakota. I have now become a Financial Services Agent and will continue to help the agents of SD with any financial needs their clients might have. This would include life insurance, annuities, long term care, estate planning, Medicare supplements, group benefits, etc. I love the planning process and solving problems is my specialty. I have helped many clients, including many family farms, with estate planning.
I am a SD native and graduated from Parker High School. I have an associate's degree in accounting but have really focused on educating myself in the financial services area, where my passion is. I took numerous classes to get my ChFC and CLU designations along with my securities license.
I have been married to Michael Mongar for almost 25 years and we have 3 children (Courtney, Jessica, and Jacob). You can usually find us in a basketball gym or on a softball/baseball field. We love traveling around and watching our kids participate in sports.
